Buondonno, Casavecchia alla Piazza 2021 – Chianti Classico Riserva

(organic) The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose offers tension and a tangy fruitiness, it expresses notes of bigarreau cherry, morello cherry, fresh raspberry, crushed blackcurrant and blueberry, associated with herbal (dried rosemary, thyme, dried pine needles), spicy (crushed cardamom, nutmeg, liquorice) and toasted (toasted hazelnut, a hint of coffee in the background) touches. We also find a fine floral bouquet after aeration (fresh peony, violet). The palate offers a fruity and gourmet attack, we find flavors of morello cherry, crushed red plum, crushed raspberry and blackcurrant, associated with spicy (liquorice, cardamom, a hint of cumin), herbal (dried mint, dried pine needles, bay leaf, dried rosemary) and roasting (coffee in the background, toasted hazelnut, cocoa) notes. There are light floral notes on the finish (lilac, violet). The tannins are firm, but velvety and slightly cocoa-flavored. Good persistence on the palate and a refreshing acidity.
