The wine has a medium-intensity ruby color with slight garnet highlights. The nose is fragrant, floral, herbaceous, and minty at the opening. It expresses notes of mint, brewed black tea, as well as tertiary notes of dried rose and faded peony. Then there is a savory spicy side (nutmeg, licorice, white pepper), as well as a toasted touch (toasted almond, heated wood, chocolate, coffee), wrapped in juicy fruits (red cherry, raspberry, morello cherry, strawberry, blueberry, crushed black plum) and underlined by a tangy, smoky hint of bergamot. The palate is sapid, with an expressive attack. We find flavors of dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut in chocolate, coffee, morello cherry in chocolate, and cinnamon in the background, combined with a juicy and gourmand fruits (fresh morello cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, red currant). We then find notes of dry Earl Grey tea, dried mint, dried rose, and wilted peony, combined with a hint of tobacco, liquorice, and nutmeg. The tannins are chalky, powdery, and fine. Beautiful salivating acidity and a chocolatey gourmandise on the fairly long persistence.
