Giuseppe Cortese 2022 – Barbaresco

Giuseppe Cortese 2022 – Barbaresco

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose offers concentration in freshness, a tangy and juicy fruitiness (which obtains more notes of sweet fruits after aeration) as well as herbal and floral touches. It expresses in particular the aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry and blueberry, associated with notes of fresh rose, fresh peony, a touch of menthol, even sap, as well as liquorice, star anise in the background, bergamot zest and toasted almond. The palate is straight and chiseled, with a good bitterness and a slight smokiness of bergamot on the attack. Then, it expresses the flavors of tangy fruits (red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, a hint of morello cherry and cranberries in the background). The mid-palate reveals notes of toasted almond, fresh rose, dried rose, dried mint as well as rose stem and a hint of tar in the background. Tannins are tight, solid, but not drying. Beautiful salivating acidity on a long fruity persistence, with calcareous mineral notes.
