Diego Morra Barolo Zinzasco 2021 – Barolo

Diego Morra Barolo Zinzasco 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is perfumed and opens with notes of faded rose and crushed wild mint. After aeration, it expresses aromas of juicy and ripe fruits (red cherry, crunchy strawberry, raspberry, red currants), savoury spices (nutmeg, liquorice, white pepper), a fragrant and airy floral bouquet (lilac, fresh rose petals, fresh peony), as well as hints of dried pine needles, fresh wood (even sap in the background) and tangy chocolatey cocoa nibs in the background. The palate is juicy, fresh, gourmet and enveloping, with a beautiful tangy frame and a chiseled structure. Tannins are well-built, fine and enveloping, with a pleasant cocoa bitterness. The flavors are bright and tangy – including notes of red cherry, crushed raspberry, crisp strawberry and fresh cherry, combined with hints of dried peppermint, dried pine needles, dried rose, lilac and peony, as well as hints of liquorice, white pepper and nutmeg. The finish is lingering and juicy, with a pleasant toasty (hazelnut) touch and a hint of cocoa. The acidity is fresh and mouth-watering.
