Cantine Povero Barolo Priore 2020 – Barolo

Cantine Povero Barolo Priore 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is aromatic, gourmand and combines notes of ripe fresh fruits and roasted fruits (fresh morello cherry, roasted red cherry, roasted blueberry, fresh blackberry, wild strawberry), complemented by refreshing notes of wild mint, menthol, a very delicate touch of eucalyptus and pine sap in the background, as well as liquorice (even star anise), cardamom and nutmeg. There are also airy floral touches (lily, rose petals). After aeration, the wine also expresses some woodiness (toasted hazelnut, fresh hazelnut, fresh wood in the background), as well as a very slight mineral hint (earthy and tarry). The palate is firm, solid and tangy. The attack expresses the grippy, slightly grainy tannins, a sharp acidity and notes of tangy fruits (bigarreau cherry, cranberries, raspberry, blackcurrant, fresh cherry), balanced by softer touches of chocolate morello cherry, cocoa and spices (liquorice, a hint of vanilla and nutmeg). The mid-palate is tangy, fresh, slightly herbaceous (mint, blackcurrant leaf, rose stem in the background). The finish is persistent, tannic and tangy, with a gourmet touch of cocoa nibs that concludes the tasting. Energy and a solid tannic structure.
