Poderi Luigi Einaudi, Monvigliero 2021 – Barolo

Poderi Luigi Einaudi, Monvigliero 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose offers density in elegance and floral and herbaceous aromas at the opening (faded rose, dried peony, hay, a touch of wild flowers), associated with a delicate minerality (a hint of limestone and tar). After aeration, we find aromas of fresh and dried fruits (wild strawberry, blackberry, dried blackcurrant, morello cherry, raspberry), as well as peppermint, liquorice, crushed cardamom, dark chocolate and toasted hazelnut. The palate is savoury, with a juicy and fruity attack. It expresses notes of fresh strawberry, crushed raspberry, blackcurrant and morello cherry. Then, we find slightly bitter notes of fresh cherry, cocoa and coffee, associated with hints of liquorice, cardamom and dried flowers (dried rose, dried cornflower). Tannins are fine and polished, tasty, but structured and grippy. Beautiful salivating acidity, a persistent and savoury finish. Elegance and structure in this wine.
