Alessandro Rivetto Barolo Lazzarito 2018 – Barolo

Alessandro Rivetto Barolo Lazzarito 2018 – Barolo

The wine has a pale garnet color. The nose is perfumed, expressive and opens with distinct tertiary aromas (faded rose, even potpourri, wet leaves, undergrowth), infusion of black tea, which is balanced by notes of bitter chocolate and cherry in chocolate after aeration. There are also notes of fresh flowers (cornflower, violet, lily), sweet spices (nutmeg, cardamom, licorice), a hint of menthol; dry pine needles and a hint of minerality (dry stone), as well as dried fruits (dried cherry, dried blackcurrant) and fresh (morello cherry, fresh blackcurrant, raspberry, cranberries in the background), a touch of sweet coffee, mint and bitter almond. The palate is savoury and expresses the tertiary hint on the attack (wet leaves, tobacco, faded rose). Then, we find the fruity notes of macerated cherry, crushed raspberry, dried red cherry, blackcurrant, dried raspberry and roasted cherry, associated with notes of fresh floral (cornflower, lily), spicy notes (cardamom, nutmeg, liquorice), menthol nuances (dried mint, pine needles) and a touch of roasting (bitter almond, coffee). The finish is persistent, tangy, with a bitter touch of grapefruit and a tanginess of cocoa nibs. Tannins are sapid, enveloping, fine, but grippy, without being astringent. Beautiful freshness, a salivating acidity and a solid structure.
