460 Casina Bric Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The first nose combines notes of tart fruit, fresh herbs and wilted flowers. In particular, we find aromas of bigarreau cherry, cranberry juice, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry, combined with notes of fresh rose petals, fresh peony, violet, fresh peppermint and tobacco. After aeration, light touches of nutmeg, liquorice, cumin, dried rose and tart cocoa nibs appear; as well as fresh almond, toast and tea with bergamot. The palate is refined and airy, with an attack on tart and slightly bitter fresh fruits (cranberries, red cherry, blueberry, raspberry, tart strawberry). On the mid-palate, we find the herbal notes (tobacco, dried mint, a hint of dried pine needles), as well as touches of fresh almond and bergamot tea. The finish is quite persistent, chocolatey and tangy (on the flavors of cocoa nibs and fresh bigarreau cherry and a salivating acidity). Tannins are tight and grippy, but fine. A well-constructed, tight wine, with vivacity and elegance that should express itself with time.
