Viberti Giovanni Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2019 – Barolo Riserva

Viberti Giovanni Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2019 – Barolo Riserva

The wine has a pale ruby color with slight garnet highlights. The nose is closed, but offers juicy fruity notes after aeration (crushed red currants, wild raspberry, cranberries, red cherry), combined with a delicate smokiness (bergamot and smoke with toasted hints), a tertiary touch of undergrowth, dried pine needles, wilted rose and wet leaves. There are also spicy notes of sweet pepper, grated nutmeg, liquorice and cardamom, combined with a light touch of vanilla, as well as toasted hazelnut, fresh wood, fresh wild mint, fresh peony and rose. The palate is juicy, with a tangy and fruity attack. Initially, the wine presents notes of fresh red cherry, dried red cherry, crushed raspberry, crisp strawberry and fresh red currant, complemented by blackcurrant and dried cranberries. On the mid-palate, the wine offers notes of roasting (coffee, cocoa nibs, toasted almond), spices (crushed cardamom, liquorice, nutmeg, a hint of vanilla), as well as a slight tertiary touch (undergrowth, dried tobacco, wet leaves), herbaceous and floral (fresh rose, dried rose, a hint of violet, bergamot tea and dried blackcurrant leaf). The finish is persistent, slightly bitter, fresh and mouth-watering, with a mineral tarry undertone. The tannins are firm, with a chalky but not dry texture.
