Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo Villero 2021 – Barolo

Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo Villero 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color, with very slight garnet reflections. The nose is reserved at first and requires aeration. Then, it expresses the first herbal, floral and mineral aromas (fresh tobacco, dried mint, dried rose, violet, a hint of tar and damp earth), complemented by juicy fruits (morello cherry, red cherry, raspberry, roasted red cherry, wild strawberry), spices (nutmeg, cardamom, liquorice, tonka bean and vanilla in the background) and toast (toasted almond, coffee, cocoa, toasted wood in the background). The palate is restrained, a little firm, but offers concentration and complexity, which should open up with development. It expresses flavors of morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, roasted red cherry, blackberry, as well as coffee, toast (toasted wood, toasted hazelnut), a hint of smoke, chocolate morello cherry and gourmet spices (liquorice, crushed cardamom, a hint of vanilla and cinnamon). The finish is long, more mineral and herbaceous, with notes of fresh tobacco, dried mint, faded rose, tar and damp earth. The tannins are polished, fine, slightly grippy and solid, but not dry. Beautiful salivating acidity on the persistence. A wine with complexity and density in freshness, but which requires time to open up.
