Caiarossa Pergolaia 2022 – Toscana

(Organic) The nose is juicy, textured and gourmand, with tension and complexity. It first expresses the freshness of wild mint, cassis leaf and fragrant flowers (fresh rose, peony), complemented by a fine sappy (pine needles, pine sap) and herbaceous (Mediterranean herbs: fresh sage laurel, rosemary) side. We also find delicate toasty touches (toasted wood, black chocolate, cocoa nibs and acidulous coffee), enveloped in a fruity, fresh and tangy substance: red cherry, raspberry, morello cherry, red currant, blueberry and cassis. The palate is precise, fresh and straightness. The attack is on tangy fruit (cranberry, red cherry, raspberry, blueberry and a hint of cassis) complements by herbaceous notes (cassis leaf, wild mint), floral (cornflower, rose), spicy (white pepper, licorice, cardamom) and a pleasant bitterness of grapefruit, coffee and black chocolate. The tannins are firm, slightly grippy, but fine and not dry. Beautiful, incisive acidity adds vivacity to the wine. The finish is persistent, with a fine side of toast and chocolate.
