Joseph Mellot, Les Vignes du Rocher 2023 – Sancerre

The wine has a pale lemon yellow color. The nose is precise, chiseled and combines the gourmand side of white peach, crushed green apple and passion fruit, a tangy frame of gooseberries and ripe lemon, as well as a limestone mineral frame and a fragrant floral bouquet (acacia, apple blossoms) and a touch of honey. The palate reflects the aromas found on the nose: the attack is enveloping and oily, with a hint of honey and stone fruit. On the mid-palate, we feel the notes of crushed lemon, passion fruit, gooseberries and white flowers (honeysuckle, acacia, apple blossoms). The finish is persistent, tangy and at the same time gourmand. Beautiful salivating acidity and a good grapefruit bitterness that balance the profile of the wine.
