The wine has a deep ruby color. On the nose, it is closed and requires aeration. It then expresses notes of morello cherry, crushed raspberry, crisp strawberry, red cherry as well as black plum, tangy blackcurrant and blackcurrant leaf in the background. Aeration also reveals minty and sappy notes of fresh pine bark, fresh peppermint, a subtle spiciness (liquorice, a touch of star anise and vanilla), toast (toasted wood in the background, toasted hazelnut) and a floral touch of peony. The palate is full, silky and gourmand, with a chocolatey and fruity attack. It expresses flavors of morello cherry in chocolate, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, red cherry jam and blackcurrant. The mid-palate offers toasted and spicy notes (toasted hazelnut, toasted wood, dark chocolate, liquorice, vanilla, a hint of star anise and tonka bean) as well as dried mint and dried blackcurrant leaf. The tannins are fine, but firm and structured. A fresh and solid wine, balanced by a beautiful fruitiness.
