CHATEAU D’ISSAN 2022 – Margaux, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is well-built, silky, supple, fresh and racy and offers the Graves of Margaux. It reveals notes of blackberry, fleshy/pulpy cassis and small notes of small blue fruits associated with hints of roasted red fruits, as well as a hint of star anise, licorice stick and a discreet hint of blue plum in the background. The palate is beautifully mineral, fresh, elegant and racy and offers lovely delicacy. It is well-built and presents a nice grain/texture, delicacy, mellowness, raciness and elegance, all in a classy style. It expresses notes of fresh/pulpy blackberry, cassis and small notes of bright raspberry associated with touches of cornflower and bright small red berries, as well as subtle nuance of star anise, chocolate, nutmeg, cardamom and toasted notes. Lovely mellowness and offers a hint of bourbon vanilla on the finish. Beautiful freshness and texture, all in precision and delicacy. A very discreet touch of fresh coffee in the background and a hint of saffron.
