Château HAUT MARBUZET 2022 – Saint-Estèphe

The nose is airy, fruity, with tangy but ripe fruits (morello cherry, bigarreau cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, crushed cassis and a hint of cassis jam). There is also a note of menthol, peppermint or even a refreshing and elegant touch of cassis bud (after aeration), reinforced by liquorice, star anise and cardamom, by a touch of cedar and pine sap in the background, and then completed by the acidity of cocoa nibs, bitter chocolate with its gourmet hint, toasted hazelnut, subtle toasted oak in the background, vanilla, violet, as well as smoke (meat), and graphite. The palate is solid, but with a fairly fine grain in its tannic structure. It expresses the flavors of morello cherry, bigarreau cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, crushed cassis, complemented by a good bitterness of bird cherry, and black plum skin. We also find the sappy side (pine needles, pine sap), spicy (licorice, star anise, vanilla) and toasted (oak, toasted hazelnut). The acidity is salivating, very fresh and pleasant. Good persistence, a chiseled, slender wine, with accuracy, straightness and a tangy frame.
