The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with garnet reflections. The nose expresses perceptible tertiary notes (wet leaves, undergrowth, dry tobacco, a slightly earthy touch, notes of faded flowers – faded rose, faded peony – enveloped and integrated), but in balance with fruitiness (red cherry dried, juicy fresh morello cherry, crushed blackcurrant, wild strawberry, dried cranberries, blueberry), spiciness (liquorice, a hint of star anise, cloves, nutmeg) and herbaceous notes (wild mint, fresh thyme, basil), which brings freshness in wine. There are also delicate touches of roasting in the background (coffee, toasted hazelnut, toasted walnut, cocoa). The palate is silky, enveloping and textured, with melted, sapid and fine tannins, but quite solid. It offers a gourmand, concentrated and elegant fruitiness in its flavors of juicy fresh morello cherry, crushed wild strawberry, cherry jam, blueberry jam, raspberry coulis, as well as melted spicy notes (cinnamon, licorice, a touch of star anise, nutmeg), flowers (dried rose, dried violet, peony) and its herbaceous freshness (dried mint, basil, fresh tobacco). We also find a subtle hint of torrefaction (coffee, toasted hazelnut, toasted walnut, cocoa) and tertiary notes that are enveloped and less present than on the nose (wet leaves, undergrowth in the background). The finish is sapid and persistent, with salivating acidity and a gourmand note of dark chocolate.
