Maison Cassagne et Vitailles – « Nimalaya » 2021, Vieux Carignan – Vin de France

The nose is elegant, spicy, delicate and offers power, a beautiful intensity, a beautiful finesse of the grain, a stretched side and precision. There are notes of fresh/ juicy small red fruits and small notes of blackberry, cranberry associated with slight hints of violet, lily and a discreet hint of fresh sage and « sens of place » (local biotop). A few spices and local flowers hints after aeration. The mouth is fruity and offers delicacy, tension, minerality, a good definition, energy, full of control, precision and a stretched side. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy/ pulpy cherry, fleshy/ juicy strawberry and small notes of fleshy/ juicy blackberry associated with almost juicy/ fresh plum touches as well as slight hints of liquorice stick. Supple and racy tannins. Beautiful precision and gourmandize. A subtle chew. Beautiful work on the good bitterness on the finish/ persistence. It needs to be decanted.
