Ruffino Greppone Mazzi Riserva 2019 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

Ruffino Greppone Mazzi Riserva 2019 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

The nose is closed at first and needs aeration, but expresses tension, complexity and a refined spicy and herbal side, as well as juicy and dried ripe fruits (especially the savory side that comes out first – tobacco, nutmeg, liquorice, dried mint, hint of balsamic, sage), combined with notes of toasted almond, sweet coffee and a touch of mushrooms after aeration. The fruits on the nose are fresh and gourmet: we find crushed strawberry, ripe morello cherry, dried red cherry, cranberry jam, crushed blueberry, blackberry, as well as a hint of herbaceous freshness, crushed blackcurrant bud quite expressive and very fresh concludes the nose. The palate is savoury, expressive, tense, fresh. It expresses notes of tangy fruits (raspberry, red cherry, morello cherry, blueberry, blackcurrant, sage, blackcurrant bud, combined with more pronounced notes of fresh tobacco and fresh mint. We also find a bouquet of fresh flowers (rose in the background, peony), enveloped and refined roasting (toasted almond, coffee). The palate offers freshness and delicacy, but with controlled power, very fine and melted tannins, cocoa. The finish is long and fruity, gourmet, persistent and savoury.
