Delaplane Cellars – Rusticity 2020 – Virginia

The nose is fruity, elegant, precise, delicate in its concentration and offers deepness, a fine velvety as well as a beautiful and precise grain. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, pulpy purple plum and small notes of graphene associated with touches of spices, a subtle hint of blueberry (in the background), cardamom as well as a very discreet hint of sense of place (local biotope). The palate is nicely juicy, fruity, elegant and offers gourmandise, a tangy frame, tension, delicacy, a beautiful velvety, a nice harmony as well as deepness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy cherry, bright cassis and small notes of bright raspberry associated with touches of pulpy plum, hints of cornflowers, small bright red fruits, small blue fruits as well as fine hints of sweet blond tobacco, smoke and nutmeg. Tannins are mellow and suave. Beautiful finish, slightly powdered and delicate. A very discreet hint of tonka bean in the background.
