Valriz 2016 – Vintage Porto

(Bottled: 2018) The nose is floral and offers fresh fruit, an airy side as well as finesse in its grain. There are notes of violet, rose and small notes of fresh/juicy red berries associated with touches of juicy/pulpy blackcurrant as well as an almost balsamic hint and a subtle hint of fig (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers juiciness, suavity, a mineral frame, juiciness, a certain brightness as well as a juicy/pulpy/bright fruit. On the palate, this Porto wine expresses notes of creamy blackberry, jammy raspberry and small notes of crushed red berries associated with a touch of fig, violet, lily as well as hints of sweet blond tobacco, a hint of date (in the background), cocoa and a discreet hint of clove. Tannins offer a fine mellowness.
