Château La Raboutine, Terres de Droux 2020 – Sancerre

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is complex, textured and perfumed. It initially expresses notes of fresh and roasted fruits (morello cherry, roasted red cherry, roasted raspberry, strawberry, crushed blackcurrant), delicate herbaceous notes (fresh tobacco, tea leaf), a tertiary hint (wet leaves, faded rose), as well as a floral fragrance (peony, iris) and fine spicy and chocolatey nuances (liquorice, clove, white pepper, dark chocolate). There are also light roasted notes (toasted hazelnut, coffee in the background) and a hint of menthol after aeration. The palate is tasty, straight and expressive, with lively acidity and beautiful fruit acidity. It expresses notes of tart red cherry, crunchy strawberry, blackcurrant, bird cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, combined with herbaceous (blackcurrant leaf, stiff tea leaf), floral (violet, a hint of faded rose, lilac) and spicy (licorice, nutmeg) notes. The finish is savory, fruity and persistent, with a tannic hint of bird cherry and the acidity of cranberries. The tannins are tight and solid. A delicate touch of tobacco on the persistence.
