Roger Champault « les Pierris » 2022 – Sancerre

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is dense, textured and aromatic. It expresses notes of crushed strawberry, dried raspberry, wild blackberry, morello cherry, roasted red cherry, as well as a mineral hint (limestone, dry stone), aromatic herbs (dried mint, rosemary, fresh blackcurrant leaf in the background), flowers (cornflower, a touch of dried rose), as well as a spicy touch of white pepper and nutmeg in the background. The palate is slightly closed and offers straightness, accuracy, a chiseled structure as well as a good bitterness. It expresses flavors of tangy blackcurrant, crushed raspberry, red cherry, blueberry and crunchy strawberry, associated with notes of blackcurrant leaf, dried mint in the background, cornflower and a hint of limestone on the persistence. The acidity is lively and salivating, the tannins have a fine grain and a good structure. The finish is moderately persistent.
