Labouré-Roi Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 – Gevrey-Chambertin

Labouré-Roi Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 – Gevrey-Chambertin

The wine has a bright pale ruby colour. On the nose it is reserved and benefits from aeration – it expresses notes of ripe fruit, with a touch of roasted and dried fruit (morello cherry, roasted red cherry, dried raspberry, strawberry, fresh red cherry, crushed blackcurrant), combined with spicy notes (Sichuan pepper, liquorice with a touch of star anise, nutmeg, a slight hint of vanilla), a herbaceous touch (dried mint, dried thyme) and a sweet floral hint of iris, as well as a note of prunes and blackcurrant jam in the background. The palate is chiseled, tangy, with lively acidity and firm, slightly grippy tannins, with a good bitterness. There is a pleasant juiciness in the mid-palate in the notes of morello cherry, juicy red cherry, cranberries, crushed raspberry and blueberry, as well as a fine spicy (licorice, nutmeg, white pepper) and herbaceous (dried mint, a hint of blackcurrant leaf) side. Good length with the bird cherry flavor and its tannic touch, as well as its good bitterness. A chiseled and energetic wine.
