Rémy Nodin, Guilherand 2023 – Saint-Joseph

(organic, 100% Syrah) The wine has a deep ruby color with purple highlights. The nose offers concentration, juiciness and density. It expresses notes of tangy black fruits (blackcurrant, damson plum), juicy blackberry, blueberry (even blueberry jam), morello cherry and raspberry coulis in the background, combined with a delicate touch of violet and a fine mineral hint(limestone). After aeration, we also find light smoky aromas, white pepper and the racy chalky minerality which expresses itself more. The palate is straight, chiseled, tangy and lively. The attack expresses the flavors of tangy fruits (blackcurrant, bigarreau cherry, blueberry) as well as a good bitterness of cocoa. On the mid-palate, there is bitterness and a tannic touch of bird cherry, as well as spicy notes of liquorice, white pepper and a touch of violet. The finish is sapid, taut and juicy, with salivating acidity and the racy chalky minerality, which returns on the persistence.
