Château Villemaurine 2023 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is nicely built, precise, textured, with a certain density that does not appear. It expresses notes of ripe/fresh black berries, ripe wild raspberry and more slightly – cornflower associated with touches of liquorice stick, star anise and a discreet hint of graphite, toast and toasted almond. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, suavity, a tangy frame, good definition, gourmandise, accuracy, fine tension. It expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blackberry, juicy/fresh blackcurrant and more slightly – juicy/fresh raspberry, associated with touches of fresh purple plum, as well as hints of camphor, toasted almond and fine hints of almost Bourbon vanilla and a saline touch on the finish/persistence. The tannins are soft and gourmet. Nicely soft in the mouth, finesse and sapid.
