Roger Champault « Côte de Champlin» 2022 – Sancerre

Roger Champault « Côte de Champlin» 2022 – Sancerre

The wine has a lemon yellow color, of medium intensity, with light golden highlights. On the nose, the wine is reserved and requires aeration. The first nose is subtly spicy, refined: it expresses the aromas of grated nutmeg, cloves, fresh vanilla, even cinnamon in the background, as well as toasted wood and toasted hazelnut. We then find the gourmand notes of yellow peach, ripe apricot, fresh lemon, candied lemon peel, grapefruit, passion fruit, as well as flower honey and white flowers (honeysuckle, acacia, apple blossom, white rose). The palate is fragrant, with a savory and spicy attack – it expresses flavors of nutmeg, cloves, a touch of vanilla in the background, as well as fresh wood and toasted hazelnut. In the mid-palate, we find chiseled notes of fresh lemon, fresh grapefruit with good bitterness, green apple and green plum, associated with gourmet touches of white peach, tangy apricot, as well as a floral scent of apple blossom and acacia. The finish is tasty, persistent and tangy. It offers a salivating acidity, a good bitterness of grapefruit and a hint of toasted hazelnut and limestone minerality on the persistence, as well as a gourmet touch of honey.
