Domaine de La Chézatte Silex 2022 – Sancerre

(Aged for 1 year in oak barrels) The wine has a pale lemon yellow color with light golden highlights. The nose is textured, with concentration and density, all in freshness. It expresses an enveloped and elegant minerality (especially limestone, with a touch of flint, but more toasted than smoky). After aeration, the wine expresses the subtle and gourmand aromas of thyme honey with a very slight note of wax, white flowers (infusion of linden, acacia, apple blossom), juicy fruits (white peach, apricot, a touch of white melon and golden apple) and the liveliness of citrus (lemon zest, grapefruit, candied lemon). We also find delicate notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, ground cumin, a touch of coriander seeds). The palate is savoury, concentrated and enveloping, while remaining elegant and fresh. In the attack, we feel notes of crunchy white peach, apricot and green apple, combined with notes of lemon zest and grapefruit juice. The mid-palate is sapid, gourmand, honeyed and floral – there are flavors of thyme honey, thyme flower, apple blossom, acacia and dried lime blossom. The finish is persistent, offers complexity, a delicate spiciness (nutmeg, ground cumin), but perceptible, a dry mineral touch (limestone, a smoky hint of flint, wrapped in a toasted touch), as well as a good bitterness of candied lime peel. Beautiful acidity associated with density and complexity. A tense and balanced wine.
