Taboadella 1255 Villae 2022 – Dão

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is fleshy, juicy and complex, with minty, spicy and chocolate notes, which complement the rich and sweet fruit profile. We find the aromas of crushed morello cherry, red cherry jam, raspberry coulis, red currant jelly, black plum and fresh wild strawberry, combined with aromas of liquorice, black pepper, ground cumin, nutmeg, cocoa, as well as dried bay leaf, dried rosemary, roasted thyme and dried rose in the background. The palate offers freshness, tension, juiciness and airiness of fresh fruit. It expresses notes of fresh black plum, crushed blackcurrant, juicy morello cherry, red cherry jam, fresh red cherry, strawberry, as well as a refined spiciness (liquorice, nutmeg, cumin), associated with a refreshing herbaceous hint (dried mint, bay leaf, rosemary), a note of cocoa and chocolate cherry, as well as a delicate minerality (dry stone), a hint of dried rose and a torrefaction (toasted hazelnut), which found at the end of the mouth. The tannins are powerful and tight, but have a fine grain. Beautiful freshness on the finish, thanks to a touch of menthol and a salivating acidity. A fleshy, powerful wine, but balanced and not heavy.
