Carpinetto 2018 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

Carpinetto 2018 – Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with slight garnet reflections. The first nose expresses delicate and enveloped tertiary notes – dry tobacco, undergrowth and dried rose. On the second nose, we find the fruity aromas of crushed wild strawberry, morello cherry, roasted red cherry, red currant, bird cherry and dried blackcurrant, associated with a fresh herbaceous notes (fresh peppermint, basil, oregano, dried pine needles), with savoury aromas of spices (coriander seeds, nutmeg, liquorice with a touch of star anise) and roasting (a touch of coffee and toasted wood), as well as a light side mineral (dry stone). The palate is chiseled, quite tannic and straight. It expresses notes of morello cherry, bird cherry, dried red cherry, fresh bigarreau cherry, blackberry in the background and blackcurrant, associated with flavors of spices (roasted coriander seeds, liquorice, a hint of star anise and cardamom), aromatic herbs (basil, dried mint, oregano, fresh bouquet garni), as well as torrefaction (coffee, toasted almond and a touch of hazelnut) and cocoa. The tannins are firm and structured, enveloped in the juiciness of fruit and a salivating acidity. The finish is lingering, powdery and cocoa-like, with sappy notes of pine needles and pine sap, as well as a touch of mint dark chocolate in the background.
