Il Poggio Es…senza 2022 – Umbria IGT Rosato

(Sangiovese, Pinot Nero) The wine has a deep color for a rosé – cherry rosé. The nose expresses notes of crushed strawberry, red cherry, morello cherry, a bitter touch of dried cranberries (associated with a tangy hint of cranberry juice), blackcurrant, as well as a herbaceous touch of blackcurrant leaf. Then, we feel floral and herbaceous notes of faded rose, hibiscus, wild rose, rosemary, associated with a smoky hint of bergamot and a touch of balsamic cream. The palate is vinous, expressive, complex, structured and long. It expresses flavors of dried red cherry, morello cherry, crushed strawberry, dried blackcurrant, dried cranberries, as well as the smoky touch of bergamot (more expressive from the mid-palate and in the finish), complemented by a hint of dried rose, toast, tobacco and faded rose. The finish expresses a salivating acidity and a dense structure. A structured rosé wine, even a little full-bodied, but well controlled, complex and balanced, with a long and deep finish.
