Vylyan Duennium 2015 – Villányi

Vylyan Duennium 2015 – Villányi

(Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kékfrankos): The wine has a medium intensity ruby color, with garnet reflections. The nose is complex and fragrant. On the first nose, we find tertiary notes of dry leaves, a slight touch of roasted mushrooms, dry tobacco, undergrowth (in the background) and dried red cherry. On the second nose, the aromas of fresh and roasted fruits appear – juicy morello cherry, red plum, roasted red cherry, a hint of blackcurrant, as well as a gourmet hint of crème de cassis, herbaceous notes of peppermint, blackcurrant bud (which brings freshness, and not a green aroma), sweet spices (liquorice, even star anise, nutmeg) and flowers (cherry blossom, lilac) and a delicate hint of torrefaction (sweet coffee, caramelized hazelnut). The palate is juicy and gourmand, with a fruity and airy attack and a tannic and tight mid-palate. We firstly find the notes of red cherry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry, red plum and blackcurrant, which are then completed by a touch of dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, dried mint, liquorice, star anise, nutmeg, toasted hazelnut and lilac. At the end of the palate, we find delicate tertiary notes – undergrowth, dry leaves, dry tobacco and dried rose. The finish is rather persistent, juicy and salivating, with a lively acidity, which balances the tightness of tannins. Great complexity and gourmandise.
