Domaine de Papotte 1989 – Bas-Armagnac

(44%) The nose is elegant, frank, precise, tense, airy and assertive. There are notes of Zante currants, pepper and small notes of dried zest associated with touches of dried white fruits, a hint of lychee, white flowers as well as a discreet hint of spices, fresh tobacco and an imperceptible hint of camphor. The palate is nicely juicy, fruity, well-balanced and offers a tangy structure, a nice delicate side in its matter, harmony, gourmandise as well as a racy grain. On the palate this Armagnac expresses notes of caramelized pear, physalis and small notes of small white fruits associated with almost lemony/crystalized lemon touches, tonka bean as well as fine hints of pâtisseries/brioche and a discreet hint of pepper. Good length. A subtle saline hint and a roasted oak/roasted coffee side in the background.
