Château Lafon 2023 – Listrac-Médoc

The nose offers a pleasant woody and sappy hint, which is complemented by touches of sweet spices after aeration (liquorice, cloves, a hint of vanilla), a touch of dried mint and dark chocolate. The fruits are ripe, tangy and juicy (blackcurrant, black plum, morello cherry, crushed raspberry in the background), combined with a fragrant and elegant floral bouquet (wild rose, violet, peony). The toasted note in the background is very discreet. The palate is smooth, juicy, textured and chocolatey. We find the flavors of morello cherry in chocolate, dark chocolate, raspberry coulis, black plum, blackcurrant, liquorice and a hint of vanilla. Nice length. The tannins are a little grainy, but not dry and not unpleasant. A well-constructed, balanced, fresh and quite complex wine.
