Château Figeac 2023 – Saint-Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé A

Lovely elegant nose, voluptuous, delicate, precise, airy, nicely textured and which offers a fine density/richness (which does not appear, well balanced/controlled) as well as a nice definition. There are notes of bright Boysenberry, bright blackcurrant and small notes of fleshy redcurrants associated with delicate touches of pulpy raspberry, violet, star anise as well as a subtle hint of almost toasted seed/crushed ripe seed and a subtle hint of graphite. Nice finesse in its texture. The palate is nicely led, elegant, graphite, textured (in delicacy and accuracy), nicely supple, airy, stretched, nicely chiseled and offers a nice racy minerality, sparkle/shine as well as a nice intensity in finesse/control. All in vibrancy and control. Very nice mellow/velvety mid-palate. A nice “classicism attempted with modernity”. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy purple plum and bright blackcurrant combined with touches of redcurrant, plum blossom, fine hints of tonka bean, graphite, dark chocolate and toast. Beautiful soft and tasty tannins. Beautiful tannic richness and power while being controlled. A subtle hint of almost bright/brilliant blueberry in the background/finish of the palate.
