Douro Prime, Inquieto Reserva 2017 – Douro

Douro Prime, Inquieto Reserva 2017 – Douro

The wine has a deep ruby color, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is aromatic and complex: it expresses a fine tertiary hint, enveloped in a fresh fruit and notes of sweet spices. We find in particular the aromas of morello cherry, black plum, crushed wild strawberry, cranberry jam, fresh morello cherry, as well as crushed strawberry and roasted cherry, associated with touches of liquorice, white pepper, nutmeg, cloves, dried mint, dried pine needles, dried rosemary, undergrowth, dried tobacco, as well as fresh bay leaf, dried rose, bitter cocoa, coffee and toasted wood in the background combined with a fresh touch of menthol and a hint of balsamic in the background. The palate is expressive, full and savoury. On the attack, it expresses pronounced smoky notes, associated with sweet spices (liquorice, white pepper, nutmeg, cloves), very ripe, dried and jammy fruits (griotte, black plum, crushed strawberry, dried morello cherry, red cherry jam, prunes), bitter cocoa, chocolate, undergrowth, dried tobacco, as well as a touch of wilted rose and dry pine needles. The tannins are melted and smooth, very fine. The finish is savoury, chocolatey, with a good coffee bitterness, notes of dried morello cherry and chocolate morello cherry, refreshed by a nice acidity. Nice balance between barely perceptible development notes, spices and fruits.
