Château Clarisse, Vieilles Vignes 2021 – Puisseguin Saint-Emilion

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose offers density, accuracy and complexity. The first nose expresses notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, cumin, liquorice, a very slight note of cinnamon), cherry in chocolate, cocoa, fresh peppermint and violet. We then find the aromas of juicy fruits: red cherry, morello cherry, black plum, red plum, raspberry and fresh cranberries with a slight bitterness. The palate is savoury, gourmand, with a fruity attack (we sense notes of morello cherry, wild strawberry, black plum, crushed raspberry and blackberry), which then combine with notes of chocolate, liquorice, nutmeg, cinnamon (in the background), peony and toast. We also find a herbaceous freshness of peppermint and sweet tobacco. The finish is persistent and sapid, with a lot of gourmabdise in its notes of plum in chocolate and cherry in chocolate. The tannins are firm, fine-grained and well-built. Beautiful salivating acidity brings freshness. A well-constructed wine, with aging potential.
