Cascina Maria 2020 – Barolo

Cascina Maria 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The first nose is fragrant, gourmand and combines floral, herbaceous and spicy notes. It expresses the aromas of dried peony, rose, lily and lilac, peppermint, blond tobacco, as well as liquorice, grated nutmeg, cloves and ground cumin. On the second nose, we find notes of crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, crushed blueberry, blueberry jam, blackcurrant jam and morello cherry in chocolate, as well as a touch of crushed bay berries and balsamic cream. On the palate, the wine is enveloping, supple and voluminous on attack, thanks to notes of cherry jam and plu, in chocolate. We then find the flavors of wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, wild plum, crushed blackberry, crushed blueberry, chocolate with mint, a touch of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, coffee), dried rose, peony and chocolate with mint in the background. The finish is long and sapid: it expresses notes of sweet spices (roasted vanilla, a hint of cinnamon) and a touch of fresh leather and balsamic, very slightly perceptible. The tannins are powerful, grippy, but have a fine texture and a powdery hint of cocoa. Beautiful salivating acidity, which refreshes the rich and fleshy profile of the wine.
