G.D. Vajra, Barolo Costi di Rose 2020 – Barolo

G.D. Vajra, Barolo Costi di Rose 2020 – Barolo

(organic)  The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is discreet and requires aeration. It then expresses subtle floral scents of violet and lily, combined with notes of fresh rose, cut rose stem and expressive peony petals, which appear after aeration. We also find a subtle limestone minerality, and a fresh and juicy fruitiness (the aromas of bigarreau cherry, blueberry, raspberry, red currant and black plum), associated with a touch of peppermint. The spiciness of the wine (notes of liquorice, nutmeg) is very delicate and very slightly perceptible. The palate offers an airy fruitiness and juiciness, accompanied by a tannic structure, which expresses the slightly drying minerality, but balanced by a lively and salivating acidity. It expresses notes of tangy fruits (bigarreau cherry, raspberry, cranberries, crushed blackcurrant, blueberry), flowers (rose, lily), a slight spiciness (rose stem, blackcurrant leaf, peppermint), as well as a smoky, spicy and peppery touch (liquorice, white pepper) in the background. The finish is persistent, tangy, slightly bitter, chiseled and fresh.
