Brezza Barolo Cannubi 2020 – Barolo

(organic) The wine has a pale ruby color. The first nose expresses smoky, slightly meaty notes, which then develop towards aromas of sweet spices (nutmeg, liquorice, cumin, coriander seeds), fresh herbs (cut wild mint, crushed laurel berries, thyme) and flowers (dried rose, lilac). We also find a resinous touch of pine needles and a tangy fruitiness (bigarreau cherry, crushed raspberry, crunchy strawberry, a touch of blueberry and morello cherry). The palate is chiselled, very fresh, with a delicate bitterness, gourmand chocolate notes on the attack and a well-built, tight, but refined tannin structure. We also find gourmand fruity flavors (ripe morello cherry, chocolate morello cherry, a touch of wild blackberry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry and blueberry), associated with notes of wild mint, thyme, and a fine spicy side. (liquorice, cumin, coriander seeds), as well as a floral touch (rose, lilac). The finish is persistent, with a nice concentration, gourmand chocolate notes and a lively acidity, which balances the slightly drying tannins on the finish. Controlled power, elegance and substance.
