Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 2021 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is warming, savoury and spicy, with a beautiful fruity substance, density and complexity. It expresses notes of ripe fruit (morello cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, black plum, wild blackberry), associated with a gourmet touch of cherry in chocolate, chocolate with mint, with a distinct spiciness, but elegant and integrated (liquorice, white pepper, nutmeg, vanilla). We also find a fragrant and refined floral bouquet (fresh rose, fresh peony, violet), as well as a refreshing touch of menthol, wild mint and fresh pine needles (or even pine sap), completed by a hint of chalky minerality. The palate is juicy and supple, very gourmand. It also offers depth, concentrated fruit, freshness and beautiful complexity. We find the flavors of fresh wood, crushed raspberry, black plum, morello cherry, red plum jam, associated with a distinct chocolate hint (mint chocolate, chocolate cherry, bitter cocoa), a herbaceous touch (dried mint, fresh peppermint) and slightly sappy note (pine sap), with a distinct but refined spiciness (liquorice, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla), as well as a fragrant floral bouquet (fresh rose, peony, violet). The tannins have a firm structure, are slightly grippy, but balanced by a concentrated and expressive profile of the wine. The finish is persistent, sapid and gourmand: it expresses slightly sweet notes of cherry in chocolate, refreshed by a beautiful acidity and a hint of menthol. Elegance, gourmandise and complexity.
