Château Cantenac Brown 2020 – Margaux Grand Cru Classé

The wine has a deep and bright ruby color. The nose is fragrant, concentrated and rich, but subtle and refined. It offers notes of fleshy fruit, very ripe, but not overripe, as well as touches of heated sweet spices. We find in particular notes of fresh blackcurrant (and blackcurrant marmalade), morello cherry, crushed wild blackberry, wild blueberry, wild strawberry, associated with a touch of morello cherry jam and prune cream, as well as with a pronounced spiciness, but in harmony with the fruitiness – the wine expresses notes of cinnamon stick, toasted vanilla, licorice, juniper berries and nutmeg, as well as a fine touch of roasting and chocolate in the background (coffee, bitter cocoa, toasted almond, mint chocolate). Herbaceous (wild mint, bay leaf, cut rosemary) and floral (violet, fresh rose petals) aromas add complexity and elegance to the wine. On the palate, the wine is velvety, silky, its tannins are melted and very fine, but offer power and structure. Beautiful texture on the palate: enveloping, fleshy, but refined. The flavors are juicy, on ripe fruits and delicate and integrated spicy and woody notes. The wine expresses flavours of ripe morello cherry and wild blackberry; blackcurrant, crème de cassis, bigarreau cherry jam, as well as licorice, cinnamon, grilled vanilla, cloves, toasted hazelnut, mint chocolate and coffee. The finish is floral (we find notes of violet and rose), persistent and ends with notes of mint chocolate and roasted aromatic herbs. Power in elegance. The wine is slightly reserved and requires aeration and time to open.
