Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils, Volnay Clos des Chênes Premier Cru 2020 – Volnay Premier Cru

The wine has a bright pale ruby color. The nose is gourmand, juicy and fruity. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, roasted red cherry, crushed blueberry, as well as a spicy and peppery touches (black pepper, nutmeg, cloves, licorice) and a fragrant floral bouquet (violet, dried rose, peony), a herbaceous touch of mint and pine needles and a fine touch of roasting (toasted, caramel). On the palate, we find fruit and juiciness, combined with a delicate bitterness. The wine expresses the flavors of morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, juicy and ripe red cherry, wild blueberry, associated with notes of violet, peony, licorice, clove, and a very delicate peppery touch on the finish, as well as notes of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut) and chocolate cherry, especially on the finish. The tannins are melted, well structured, but delicate, with a powdery side and lots of flavor. The acidity is supple and refreshing, nice persistence on the palate. A supple and gourmand wine.
