Château Lafitte-Teston, Prestige 2018 – Madiran

The wine has a deep ruby color. The aromas are discreet at first – the wine requires aeration and expresses itself more, once aerated in the glass. It reveals notes of ripe red cherry and jam, sour cherry, red plum, mint, licorice, bitter cocoa, dark chocolate, prunes, cloves, smoked meat, violets and integrated notes of maturation in oak (toast, smoky, coffee). On the palate, the wine is rich, with a nice concentration of fresh red and black fruits (red cherry, morello cherry, red plum jam, quetsche plum), mint leaf, black pepper, liquorice and smoke. There are also sweet notes of cinnamon and a nice acidity that refreshes the whole. The finish of the wine is long and warm, with notes of cherry jam and plum. Beautiful tannic structure: firm and powerful, but the tannins are fine and delicate. A refined wine with great aging potential.
