Château le Rey – Les Argileuses 2020 – Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

The nose is fresh, clean, precise and straightforward, offering depth, power, a peppery edge and a fine, powerful grain. There are notes of boysenberry, fresh pepper and more slightly fresh spices combined with hints of star anise and a fine saline touch, crushed raspberry and discreet hints of fresh vanilla/sweet tobacco. The palate is nicely fresh, elegant, gourmet, sapid and offers juiciness, some creaminess, a nice precision, suppleness, good definition and gourmandise. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of blueberry cream, bright blackberry and, more slightly, crushed raspberry, combined with hints of vanilla, blueberry and fine chocolate (in the background) and an imperceptible hint of fresh balsamic in the background. The tannins are supple and elegant. A food wine.
