Fontana Reale – Merlonero 2021 – Beneventano Merlot IGP

The nose is fruity and offers a slight power, a precise and frank grain, fullness. It expresses the notes of pulpy cherry, bright raspberry and, more slightly, prickly pear associated with touches of spice, sense of place and almost a discreet hint of citrus. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, minerality, a tangy structure, energy, good definition, tension, and a discreetly tight tannic structure. It expresses the notes of prickly pear, rhubarb and, more slightly, bright/tangy plum associated with a touch of sense of the place of iodine and a discreet hint almost sage in the background. Good length. The tannins are racy, mellow.
