Couly-Dutheil – Clos de l’Echo 2018 – Chinon

The wine shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is dense and heady, revealing nuances of cooked red and black cherries, a touch of sweet spices, black pepper and balsamic in the background. The palate is savoury, almost saline, showing a lot of ripeness and concentration, balanced by refreshing acidity. Alcohol is slightly warming on the back-palate but well-balanced by intense fruitiness. Notes of ripe black cherries and black currants are supported by savoury nuances of sun-dried tomatoes, black olives and almost soya sauce. Bold, massive, well-managed tannins. Good length.
