The nose offers power in balance, some stretch and a fine, intense grain. There are notes of wild blackcurrant, grey pepper and more slightly crunchy boysenberry combined with hints of morello cherry, crushed raspberry as well as hints of violet, racy minerality, a hint of incense and a very discreet hint of sense of place (local biotop). The palate is fruity and offers freshness, minerality, tension, a spherical side and a fine acidic backbone. On the palate this wine expresses notes of black cherry, blackberry and more slightly crushed raspberry combined with hints of star anise, graphite, chocolate as well as hints of blueberry, toast and a subtle hint of vanilla bean. The tannins are precise and mellow. A fine hint of crushed almond on the finish. Good persistence.
