Château de Malleret 2019 – Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel

The nose is fruity and offers a fine richness, controlled power, fine intensity and a very fine straightness. There are notes of wild blackcurrant, crushed blackberry and, to a lesser extent, fleshy cherry/griotte, combined with hints of liquorice stick, cardamom, a fine touch of camphor and a discreet hint of pepper and toast. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers juiciness, freshness, fine fluidity, good definition, tension, a very fine creaminess/fatness and a fresh/mineral structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of morello cherry, cocoa and, more slightly, pulpy boysenberry, combined with touches of blue berries, toast, cardamom, as well as a discreet hint of black pepper, fine hints of crushed almonds and a subtle, almost fresh floral touch. Good length. A fine hint of pleasant cocoa bitterness on the finish.
