Château Cambon La Pelouse 2019 – Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel

The nose is aromatic and offers power, a certain intensity and a fine grain. The wine benefits from being decanted. There are notes of fresh boysenberry, ripe red berries and more slightly strawberry combined with delicate hints of star anise, crunchy plums as well as fine graphite, camphor, spice, a subtle hint of cardamom and a touch of Sichuan pepper (in the background). The palate is fresh, mineral and offers roundness, fruitiness, some fatness, a certain gourmandise, unctuousness, a nice complexity, a fine grain, delicacy in its power as well as concentration. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry, crushed wild strawberry and more slightly crushed redcurrant combined with hints of liquorice stick, pulpy purple plum and a hint of Bourbon vanilla, graphite and a subtle touch of incense. Good length. A subtle hint of star anise on the finish.
