The nose is fresh, aromatic and offers some power as well as a fine, racy grain. There are notes of boysenberry, fleshy strawberry and more slightly crushed raspberry combined with hints of liquorice stick, lilac, pepper as well as a subtle hint of cardamom and a very discreet hint of Sichuan pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity and offers freshness, minerality, concentration, a good structure (discreetly tight) and tension. On the palate this wine expresses morello cherry, pulpy/juicy blackcurrant and more slightly notes of violet combined with hints of racy minerality, fine nuances of blond tobacco and a subtle hint of cardamom and vanilla. A subtle, almost iodine-like edge and good work on positive bitterness. The tannins are well-managed. Good length.
